Premiere of ‘The Mermaid’ at Laemmle Town Center Encino: A Bold Entry into Theatrical Release
Los Angeles, CA – The Mermaid, the much-anticipated psychological drama directed by Soudabeh Moradian, is set to make its debut with an exclusive, invitation-only premiere at the Laemmle Encino on October 24th. Following the premiere, the film will open to the public with ticketed screenings beginning on October 25th, marking its official theatrical release.
The Mermaid, a black-and-white psychological horror exploring themes of trauma, misogyny, and xenophobia, follows Darya, an Iranian-American novelist dealing with PTSD after the mysterious death of her sister. The film employs a non-linear narrative, symbolic language, and elements from Middle Eastern mythology, creating a deeply psychological and artistic exploration of identity and loss.
The film’s IMDb logline reads: “A mysterious girl is saved from drowning by a fragmented family living in a desolate beach house. Her strange relationship with them becomes intimate and complex until everything reaches a point of no return.”
Director Soudabeh Moradian shared, “We’ve chosen to premiere The Mermaid directly to audiences without waiting for the festival circuit. This film is intensely personal and culturally resonant, and we believe it’s ready to connect with viewers of all cultures.”
