Sahara pictures currently is in post-production on a feature film entitled “The Mermaid” in Upstate New York, directed by Soudabeh Moradian based on a short story by Naghmeh Samini.

The Mermaid is a psychological horror that examines the misogyny and xenophobia hidden within a self-assured, highly educated family in the U.S: A mysterious young woman of indeterminate ethnicity, rescued from drowning, is taken in by a family living in a desolate beach house. The intimate, complex relationship between the outsider and the family rips off the mask of their monstrous social pathologies.

As a project partially supported by Syracuse University, several former and current SU students are working on set, alongside film industry professionals and their faculty members.
